Teamgroup’s latest addition to its lineup of 1TB microSD cards is the Pro+. As its name suggests, it is designed for those who want higher performance from their removable storage media. The Pro+ joins the ranks of other Teamgroup models such as the Elite, Go, Expert, and Gamer. The Elite and Go models are slower A1 cards, while the Expert and Gamer models are faster A2 cards. However, despite claiming to have impressive read/write speeds, the Pro+ fell short in both synthetic and real-life performance tests. This is not ideal considering the competition, such as the Silicon Power Superior, which offers slightly better performance at a lower price.

The pricing and availability of the Teamgroup Pro+ are as follows: $53.99 for one card and $102.99 for two. It is currently available for sale in the US, UK, and Australia. The card is available in capacities ranging from 128GB to 1TB, with a 1.5TB model expected to launch in 2024. Multi-pack offers are also available, allowing customers to purchase the 1TB card individually or as a pair at a slightly lower cost. Overall, the Pro+ is a decent addition to the best microSD buying guide.

In terms of benchmarks, the Teamgroup Pro+ microSD card achieved lower speeds than expected, ranging from 80 to 84.25 MB/s in read and 79 to 82.25 MB/s in write. These speeds are far from the optimistic headline numbers of 160 MB/s in read and 110 MB/s in write. However, it should be noted that these higher speeds may be achievable using professional card readers, although they may not be achievable with internal readers found in laptops, tablets, smartphones, or consumer-grade devices.

The specifications of the Teamgroup Pro+ include capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, with dimensions of 71.5 x 43.5 x 8mm and a weight of 1g. The enclosure material is plastic and the connector type is not specified. The technology used is QLC, and the card comes with a lifetime warranty. The rated read/write speeds are 160/110 MB/s. The Pro+ does not come with any software bundle.

When considering whether to buy the Teamgroup Pro+, there are alternative options to consider. The Silicon Power Superior is a highly recommended choice, offering the best value for money as the cheapest 1TB microSD card on the market. It has received a five-star award and is suitable for most tasks. Gigastone is a challenger brand with limited independent reviews, so caution is advised when considering their products. However, Gigastone does offer a 5-year free data recovery offer on their cards. The Sandisk Extreme Pro is a more expensive option compared to the Teamgroup Pro+, and while it earned an editor’s choice award three years ago, it may not offer the same value for money in today’s market.

To test the Teamgroup Pro+, I formatted it to exFAT and conducted benchmark tests using CrystalDiskMark, Atto, AS SSD, and AJA. These benchmarks provide an overview of the card’s performance. Additionally, I transferred a folder of files approximately 10GB in size to assess real-life performance. The tests were conducted using a Startech USB Type-C card reader connected to the Type-C connector of a Honor MagicBook laptop.
