OpenAI Announces Major Update for ChatGPT

OpenAI recently made a major announcement at their first developer conference, DevDay, where they revealed that ChatGPT, their AI chatbot, will be receiving some significant updates. This comes almost a year after its launch, and will include the introduction of a new and more powerful AI model, the ability for users to create their own custom AI assistants, and a new marketplace that will function as an App Store exclusively for chatbots.

One of the biggest updates being rolled out for ChatGPT Plus subscribers is the ability to create custom AI chatbots. This feature, available to those subscribed for $20 a month, allows users to tailor a version of ChatGPT to their specific needs, whether for business or personal use. The process is straightforward and involves steps such as setting the capabilities, name, and logo of the chatbot, as well as providing data for the chatbot to use as the basis for its responses. OpenAI will also be launching the GPT Store later in November, which will be home to creations made using the GPT Builder, and will feature a leaderboard. Verified builders will be able to showcase their work and even earn money based on usage.

ChatGPT Plus subscribers will also benefit from the launch of new ‘Turbo’ versions of the GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 models. These versions have been trained on fresher data, allowing for more accurate and relevant responses. Additionally, Pro users will now have access to a ‘Copyright Shield’ that will protect them from legal claims around copyright infringement.
