VickyBoard: A Unique and Colorful Gaming Keyboard with V-Split Design

If you’re looking for a gaming keyboard that stands out from the rest, the VickyBoard ā€“ V-Split Ergonomic RGB gaming keyboard is sure to catch your attention. With its bold and vibrant 90s aesthetic, this keyboard is a throwback to a bygone era. While some may find its design to be unattractive, I personally love the bright and colorful look that was popular in the 90s. With a clear neon green form factor, orange and black keycaps, and a clear backlight, this keyboard is a visual standout.

But it’s not just about looks – the VickyBoard also boasts a unique design that sets it apart from other keyboards. The “V-Split” in its name refers to the bent shape of the board, which follows the natural placement of your hands when resting on the keyboard. This ergonomic design is reminiscent of the wave-shaped Logitech Wave Keys, but with a sharper bend that offers potentially greater comfort. However, it does come with a learning curve, as the distinctive shape takes some getting used to. Once you adjust, though, you’ll find that your hands rest more comfortably on the keyboard. It’s worth noting that a built-in wrist rest would have been a nice addition to enhance the ergonomic experience.

The key placement on the VickyBoard is also affected by its split design, with keys spaced out to make typing easier and more convenient. One clever feature is the split space bar, which is divided into two smaller keys on opposite sides. This is a welcome addition for ergonomic keyboards, but the absence of a backspace key on both sides is a minor annoyance.

In terms of connectivity, the VickyBoard offers both Bluetooth and wired options, and both work fine. To update the firmware and reconfigure the keyboard, you need to visit a website and copy the file data into the keyboard itself. While other keyboards may have simpler software apps, this method eliminates the need to install anything on every computer you use.

The VickyBoard uses Gateron switches, which are more budget-friendly compared to brands like Cherry MX. They may not offer the same level of smoothness and luxury, but they still provide a pleasant typing experience. In my review unit, the Gateron Blue switches had a satisfying clicky sound and tactile feedback. However, it’s worth noting that different variants of Gateron switches offer varying actuation forces.

While the VickyBoard has some intriguing design choices and ergonomic features, its price point is a bit hard to justify. Compared to other high-end mechanical keyboards in the same price range, it doesn’t quite match up in terms of quality. However, if you’re willing to splurge on a unique and eye-catching product, this keyboard may be worth considering.

The VickyBoard is currently available for purchase on Indiegogo, with a “Super Early Bird” price of $179. After the campaign ends, it will be available on the X-Plus online store for $199-$229. There’s also an All-Star pack option that includes a carrying case, mat, and switch tools, priced at $239-$249. It’s worth noting that the quality of the carrying case is excellent, but the mat leaves much to be desired. Furthermore, the fact that the standard version doesn’t come with switch tools is a drawback, as many other mechanical keyboards include them.

Despite its drawbacks, the VickyBoard is available worldwide, including in the US, UK, and Australia. However, pricing for other countries has not been announced yet.

To sum it up, the VickyBoard is a unique and colorful gaming keyboard with a distinctive V-Split design. It offers an ergonomic typing experience and is sure to turn heads with its 90s aesthetic. While it may not be the best option for everyone, it fills a certain niche and caters to those seeking a truly one-of-a-kind product.
